Lens and Track Care for Permanent Lighting in Halfmoon

Permanent lighting lives outside all year, and its surfaces collect pollen, road film and winter grime. We clean the lenses, track and mounting surfaces carefully, check every run for wear, and leave your roofline lighting as clear and even as the day it went up.

What lens and track care covers

This work is focused on the lighting system itself: the clear lenses over each LED, the aluminum track that hides the wiring, and the strip of fascia or trim the track is mounted to. It is careful hand work with soft cloths and gentle cleaners chosen for polycarbonate and painted aluminum, not a wash of the whole house.

A thin film on a lens is easy to miss in daylight. At night it dulls whites toward yellow, softens the edges of each point of light and makes some sections look dimmer than others. Cleaning brings back the color you chose in the app and lets us look closely at fasteners, seals and connections while we are up there.

We also prepare mounting surfaces before a new permanent exterior lighting installation, so track sits flush and fasteners seat against solid, clean trim.

What the work includes

Lens cleaning, LED by LED

Each lens is wiped with a soft, non-abrasive cloth and a cleaner safe for clear plastics. We avoid solvents and stiff brushes that can haze or scratch the surface.

Track and channel care

We clear leaves, seed pods and insect nests from the track and wipe down its face so it blends back into the trim color.

Mounting surface prep

Before new track goes up, we clean the fascia or soffit where it will mount. Clean, dry trim gives fasteners a better hold and keeps the line straight.

Connection and seal check

While we work, we look at end caps, splices and power entry points for cracked seals, loose clips or moisture.

Photos of what we find

You get photos of anything worn or damaged, so you can see it for yourself and decide what, if anything, to do next.

Signs your lighting needs attention

  • Whites look yellow or muddy

A film on the lenses filters the light. If your warm white has drifted toward amber, dirt is the usual cause.

  • Uneven brightness along one run

Sections under trees or near a dryer vent tend to get dirtier faster, so one side of the house can look dimmer than the other.

  • Visible debris in the track

Leaves, pine needles or wasp nests in the channel trap moisture against the wiring and are worth clearing.

  • After a hard winter

Ice, wind-driven sleet and salt spray leave residue and can loosen clips. Spring is a good time to check everything.

  • Before you install new lighting

If track is going onto trim that has weathered or chalked, it should be cleaned first so it mounts securely.

How a visit runs

  1. 1

    Talk it through by phone

You tell us about your lighting, how long it has been up and what you have noticed. We give you a free quote and set a time that suits you.

  2. 2

    Walk the roofline

We start with a walk around the house to look at each run from the ground and note any trouble spots before the ladders go up.

  3. 3

    Clean and inspect

We work run by run, cleaning lenses and track and checking seals and connections. Drop cloths go down over plantings and walkways where we work.

  4. 4

    Test the system

Once the work is done, we run the lights through a few colors in the app so you can see the result and confirm every section responds.

  5. 5

    Review the photos

We walk you through anything we photographed, explain what it means and give you a straight answer on whether it needs work now or can wait.

What affects the price

Most of the cost comes down to how much lighting there is and how hard it is to reach. We price after hearing about your home and, where useful, seeing it. You get a clear quote before any work starts.

Length of the lighting runs
More linear feet of track means more lenses to clean and more connections to check.
Roof height and pitch
A single-story ranch is quicker and simpler than a steep two-story roofline that needs taller ladders and more setup.
Time since the last visit
Several seasons of buildup, nests or heavy pollen take longer to clear than a light film.
Prep for new installation
Preparing mounting surfaces ahead of new track is usually quoted together with the installation itself.

Questions about lens and track care

Something not covered here? (518) 500-4995

Do you wash the siding, driveway or rest of the house?

No. This service covers the lighting system and the trim it mounts to. We keep our work on the lighting so it is done carefully and well.

How often should permanent lighting be cleaned?

For most homes, once a year is plenty, often in spring after winter grime has built up. Homes under heavy tree cover or near busy roads may benefit from a second visit in fall.

Can I clean the lenses myself?

You can wipe any lens you can safely reach with a soft cloth and mild soapy water. Avoid glass cleaners with ammonia, abrasive pads and high-pressure water, which can haze plastic or force water past the seals.

What if you find storm damage while we are up there?

We photograph it clearly and note where it is and what it looks like. If you decide to contact your insurer, those photos and notes help you explain what happened. We can tell you what we see, but your insurance company and its adjuster decide what is covered.

Will this affect my app settings?

No. Your scenes, schedules and colors stay as they are. We only run a short test at the end to confirm every section works.
